LIBERIAN CHILDREN'S SCHOOLING PROJECT

Bringing schools, job training, and economic development to Liberia

Bishop Schori visits Exec Director Flomo

LCSP Executive Directory, Mogana Flomo, met the Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori of the US Episcopal church at Cuttington University campus in Liberia today.  Bishop Schori is very excited about LCSP and the joint Church and Rotary project of sending farm equipment to support schools and to advance the MDG goals.  She first learned about this project at our Diocese Convention at Redding last November where she requested a considerable amount of information on LCSP.

Letter from Executive Director Mogana Flomo describes the meeting with Bishop Schori:

I greet you in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord.

The Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, the Rt. Rev, (Dr.) Katharine Jefferts Schori visited Cuttington University campus today where a degree of Doctor of Divinity (DD) was conferred on her by the University. During this program, I managed to get in contact with the Presiding Bishop when she was walking out of the stage with the Bishop of the Episcopal Church in Liberia. She and I talked casually and I informed her about the great job the St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Gridley, California, USA is doing to support the Liberian children and farmers in our country. She then told me to meet with her in the Cafeteria of Cuttington University where the reception was held.

The Bishop also brought with her on her team one lady who is in the wheelchair like me and I used the occasion to contact her very fast and immediately where she and I exchanged business cards and I made the request formal to her that I have some gifts for the Bishop on behalf of LCSP and the St. Timothy's Church in Gridley, California. She immediately accepted and told me that we should ride the wheelchairs together there which we did. All eyes saw us moving together and people thought that this lady and I have been knowing each other before.

In the Cafeteria, I was given special recognition to address the audience and to present our gifts to the Bishop.  The Bishop came down to me on the floor and sat in front of me as you see in the photos, and she and I talked together and she said that she talked with some members of the Gridley Church and she was told of the project in Liberia which has been confirmed today by my presence and action. She further said that she will talk to other people in the US about the project.  She was very pleased and excited. We gave her a certificate of appreciation and a country Liberian lady gown as a gift from LCSP and the Church of Gridley (St. Timothy's Episcopal Church).

I am thankful to all the Board members in the US for making this donation to be possible and I also thank those who made it possible for me to meet with the Bishop today. My wife Angeline is standing on the side of the Bishop at the time the gown and certificate were presented to her.

God bless you.
